The former world number 1, Mark Williams is set to take on the up and coming Liam Highfield. Williams, has won this tournament twice although he hasn’t won a ranked event since 2011. On the other hand, a win for Highfield would be the perfect birthday present for the young Englishman. It would mark his first ever career ranked quarter final.
Luca Brecel (Bel) v Stephen Maguire (Sco)
The current number 19 Stephen Maguire has to confront the Belgium Bullet Luca Brecel if he wishes to win his second UK Championship. However, Brecel will be hoping to get his first career win over the Scot.
Jamie Jones is through to the quarter finals after beating Alex Gilbert in fabulous fashion, beating him 6 frames to 2. Jones has achieved his career best by reaching the quarters of this tournament. His previous best was reaching the third round last season.
16:47: Gilbert missed a shot on the green, handing Jones the match from his foul.
16:45: Jones missed a valuable pot on the pink, which would have won him the match. Leaving the door slightly open for Gilbert.
16:42: After scoring 4 points on the table, Gilbert plays a safety shot putting Jones in a predicament.
16:40: Wonderful pot of the red ball from Gilbert, letting him back into this frame, giving him a slight opportunity
16:38: Tactical game of safety shots being played between the two competitors.
16:32: A missed shot on the red from Jones, allows Gilbert to return to the table, in attempt to redeem this match for himself.
16:31: Magnificent shot from Jones, putting him back on the scoring.

Meanwhile on the other table, Jamie Jones is currently winning David Gilbert 5 frames to 2 and is ahead in the eighth frame.
After a fantastic break in the final frame, John Higgins has won the fourth round match comfortably against Mark Allen. Wrapping up the game 6-3, he progresses to the quarter finals.
16:22: Superb play from John Higgins, looks likely to win this frame, winning him the game.
16:19: In his return to the table, Allen misses a side pocket shot on the red ball, which allows Higgins to return and begin a break.
16:18: Higgins tried the difficult shot, but failed. Allen returns to the table.

16:15: Higgins pots the first ball of the frame, possibly setting up the rest of the frame for himself, with a magnificent shot.
16:12: Higgins currently leads the game 5 frames to 3, with the 41 year-old set to break the ninth frame.
